COMELEC: No more Voters ID issued
THE Commission on Elections (COMELEC) clarified it has stopped issuing voters ID since 2017.
This was clarified by the polling body after new voter registrants have been airing complaints over the perceived failure of the commission to issue these.
Atty. Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, said COMELEC already announced that on December 20, 2017, the COMELEC would no longer issue voter ID cards in anticipation of the rollout of the national ID.
While the COMELEC no longer issues cards, certifications containing the voter’s registration data may be issued upon request.
“Madali lang ang pagkuha rito ng voter. Mabibigyan siya agad ng certification”, said Salas.
After the voter’s registration ended last January, the COMELEC‘s focus is on voter education in barangays. (Ahikam Pasion)
