Fishermen’s harassment at Ayungin shoal slammed
THE continued harassment of Filipino fishermen by the Chinese Coast Guard preventing them from fishing at the Ayungin Shoal was condemned by the Pamalaka Pilipinas.
In an interview by IFM Dagupan the group’s national chairman Fernando Hicap said the recent incident was a repetition of the same in the past where fishermen are prevented from fishing in their own territorial water.
He said it is sad to see Filipinos being driven away from their own waters by foreigners and the government is unable to protect them. ((Badz Agtalao)

BIDA program launched in Anda, Sison
THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Anda launched the anti-illegal drugs advocacy program in Anda called BIDA or Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Iwanan”.
The program, being waged in partnership with the Anda local government and all the national government agencies based in Anda, is aimed at focusing on demand reduction for drugs and rehabilitation of those hooked on illegal drugs so that they can again become useful members of their communities.
In Sison town, the local government officials participated in the nationwide roll out activity of DILG’s BIDA Program. Mayor Danilo Uy of Sison assured his full support to the intensified campaign against illegal drugs.( Joana de Vera)

Medical needs of 17K served by LGU San Nicolas
THE San Nicolas local government served 16, 948 members of the marginalized sector, indigent citizens, malnourished, and senior citizens, children and persons with disabilities were served their medical needs for the last six months, from July to December 2022.
The sick received free medical consultation and medicines from the San Nicolas Rural Unit.
Mayor Alicia Primicias-Enrquez, a doctor by profession, commended the nurses and other health workers for their selfless services to the town residents who were in need. (Rona Racca)
