2 robbers arrested after car chase
TWO men tagged as responsible for the series of armed robberies in Pangasinan and La Union were arrested in Urdaneta.
The police identified the suspects as Rolando Quiero, 37; and Rommel Quiero, 33, both residents of Brgy. Anonas in Urdaneta.
The two suspects were tagged by the police in Pangasainan and La Union to be behind the series of robberies on convenience stores in the provinces.
They were arrested in a car chase after they refused to stop after being flagged down by the police at a checkpoint in Barangay Camantiles, Urdaneta.
Member of the SWAT and PNP Urdaneta gave chase to the suspects.

Drunk cop who discharged firearm on child’s birthday arrested
A POLICEMAN was arrested for firing his issued firearm during the birthday of his daughter at a resort in Brgy. Caviernesan, Mangatarem Sunday night.
The arrested policeman was identified as P/Master Sergeant Raul Cayabyab, 48 a resident of Mangatarem and presently assigned at Police Regional Office 1 in San Fernando City, La Union.
A concerned resident who was disturbed by the firing of firearm inside the adjacent resort reported the incident to the Mangatarem Police Station. Cayabyab was promptly arrested by the town’s chief of police, P/Major Arturo Melchor.
Cayabyab was reportedly intoxicated when he fired his issued 9 mm pistol four times and once with his Cal. 9 mm pistol. P/Colonel Jeff Fanged, Pangasinan police director, said he will not tolerate Cayabyab’s wrong-doing. (Joana de Vera /104.7 IFM Dagupan)

Man shot dead in Lingayen public market
A MAN was shot dead by a bonnet-wearing suspect as he and his wife emerged from a cafe near Lingayen’s public market.
The victim was identified as Salvador De Guzman, a native of Bugallon town, who at that time was accompanied by his wife, after delivering fish to vendors at the Lingayen public market.
Investigation showed that as the husband and wife were leaving the eatery, an unidentified man approached them and repeatedly shot De Guzman in different parts of his body with a cal. 45 pistol. His wife was unscathed but visibly shocked as a result of the incident.
The police are still looking into the motive of the killing, including possible witnesses while manhunt is ongoing for the killer. (Jovelyn Domingo, UdD)
