BRIGHT, colorful lights adorning the Nativity scene – the “Belen”- depicting the birth of Jesus Christ have been restored for the grand visual experience of Dagupeños’ families, friends and their visitors at the Paseo de Belen by the River Grove last December 2, 2022 as one of the highlights of the 2022 Dagupan City Diamond Jubilee Fiesta.

Showcasing the use of indigenous materials, clustered barangays, United Architects of the Philippines – Pangasinan Scale Chapter, Dagupan Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Dagupan Electric Corporation and PAMANA, and CSI Group of Companies presented their respective impressions of “Belen” through creative designs and concepts.

Criteria for judging include creativity and originality, 40 points; workmanship, craftsmanship, and durability, 30 points; theme and symbolic representation, 20 points and overall visual impact, 10 points for a total of 100 points.

Winners will be announced on Dec. 23 during the Barangay Night.

Mayor Belen Fernandez cited how the Paseo de Belen has become a part of every Filipino home as she welcomed everyone to the event.

This year’s Hermano Mayor Councilor Michael Fernandez lauded the efforts of Dagupeños in spreading Christmas joy and happiness for the holiday season and thanked department offices, local agencies, private organizations and individuals that exerted all efforts for the return of Paseo de Belen.

At the eventful opening were Vice Mayor Bryan Kua, Councilors Jeslito Seen, Dennis Canto, Liga ng mga Barangay President Marcelino Fernandez, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Joshua Bugayong, City Engineer Officer-in-Charge Josephine Corpuz, Dagupan City Police Chief Lt. Col. Vicente Castor Jr., Dagupan City Fire Marshal Insp. Michael John Escaño, Public Order and Safety Officer Arvin Decano, Dagupan Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Superintendent Roque Constantino Sison III, Schools Division Superintendent Aguedo Fernandez, Atty. Gonzalo Duque of the Lyceum Northwestern University, Former Bureau of Communications Director Pebbles Duque, Atty. Ope Reyna, former city councilors Karlos Reyna, Tess Coquia and Atty.
