Pangasinan PNP ready for Christmas holiday
THE Pangasinan Police Provincial Office has assured its readiness to meet the security challenges during the coming Yuletide season as towns and cities are racing to install Christmas lights in public areas.
P/Colonel Jeff Fanged, PNP provincial director, said security measures are being coordinated with police stations to ensure the safety of communities, particularly the deployment of more uniformed personnel and force multipliers in crowd-drawing events.
He called on all police stations to focus on maintaining peace in their respective areas in order to sustain the economic growth and prosperity in the province. (Ella Garcia)

PRO1 tops in Kasimbayanan activities in PH
THE Police Regional Office 1 leads all PROs in the entire country in the number of Kasimbayanan activities.
According to P/Brigadier General John Chua, PRO 1 regional director, there were 42,629 activities accomplished in the region under the Kasimbayanan (Kapulisan, Simbahan at Pamayanan) program.
Chua said this was made possible through the active support of local governments, community advisers and advocacy supporters who are united under Kasimbayanan concept.
He thanked residents of Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte for their unstinting support and cooperation for the promotion of objectives of Kasimbayanan. (Ella Garcia)

Bayambang’s 422 barangay officials take surprise drug test
THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in coordination with the Bayambang Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC), subjected 422 barangay officials of Bayambang to a surprise drug test.
All officials of the 77 barangays of Bayambang were made to take the drug test as part of Barangay Drug Clearing Program of the PDEA Pangasinan Provincial Office and a process for the annual validation of Bayambang as a drug-cleared municipality.
Among those tested were SK chairpersons, chief tanods, barangay secretaries and BWH president. However, the number of barangay officials who tested positive was not made available. (Ella Garcia)

More towns set up Bahay Silangan
THE campaign to launch more drug-clearing operations in towns gained momentum after P2.7 billion of illegal drugs discovered in Pozorrubio were seized by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Pangasinan Provincial Office last August 12, 2022 and 34 more high-value drug targets were arrested.
Rechie Camacho, head of PDEA Pangasinan, said efforts to clear towns and cities of illegal drugs through “Bahay Silangan” were welcomed by more local governments.
However, Camacho said while “Bahay Silangan” have been established in towns of Asingan, Balungao, Basista, Sison, Umingan and San Carlos City to help them keep their status as “drug-cleared” communities, so far only Umingan’s program is known to be operational.
Meanwhile, 1,081 barangays out of 1,272 barangays have already been declared “drug-cleared” with 191 yet to be cleared. (Ella Garcia)

Manaoag preparing for influx of pilgrims this X-mas
THE preparation of the local government of Manaoag headed by Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario for the big influx of pilgrims at the Minor Basilica during the Christmas holiday has gone into full swing.
Rosario said plans have been drafted by his office and the local police station for the expected arrival of more devotees and pilgrims to ensure their security and welfare.
He assured the vigilance of the police will increase from the start of the traditional period for midnight mass.
The mayor said an average of 50,000 pilgrims and visitors flocking to Manaoag daily during the Christmas season poses a big security nightmare but the town is ready for it. ( Badz Agtalao)

Primary Care Day launched in Manaoag
THE Primary Care Day under the Universal Health Care Law was launched in Manaoag on November 18 attended by Health Undersecretary Ma. Rosario Vergeire, OIC at the Department of Health (DOH).
“Konsultayo Arangkada”, a DOH program, provided free health consultation and medicines to residents during the event.
Vergeire said Primary Care Day should be observed by all LGUs to achieve the objectives of the Universal Health Care Program by providing free health care service and medicine to people particularly those from the grassroots and far-flung communities.
She said primary health care should be made available to people so that their ailments can be treated at the earliest possible time allowing them to minimize their expenses.
Vergeire turned over the Primary Care Van that will make the rounds in the whole town till December 31 for medical and dermatological consultation, screening services for cervical, breast, colorectal and prostate cancers, mental health consultation, immunization – Covid and routine laboratory services, dental and pharmacy Services.
