Gov. Guico bares 100-day accomplishments

GOVERNOR Ramon Guico III’s reported to his constituents that the first 100 days of his administration marked the laying of the foundation for his governance in the next two years.

In his message before provincial officials at the Sison Auditorium in Lingayen on Friday (October 7), Guico said his first accomplishment in office was the establishment of the Provincial  Economic and Development Promotions Office that will market the province to become a haven of investors and tourists.

He also cited the creation of the Provincial Hospital Management Systems Office, which aims to systematize the operations of the 14 hospitals operated by the province as his other accomplishment.

Guico said the provincial government initiated the planning for a proposed Pangasinan East-West Expressway (PEWEX) that will connect Eastern and Western Pangasinan to be funded either by the government or the private sector, a project which he said could stimulate trade and commerce and the establishment of more economic zones.

Under his stewardship, he also signed a MOA establishing partnership in research and development between the provincial government and the Pangasinan State University.

Guico also announced he signed a MOA with the Department of Health through the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City for the latter to lend its doctors, nurses, medical technologists, pharmacies to the different provincial hospitals.

He said also set the creation and establishment of Center for Pangasinan Studies, tapping the help of different universities in Pangasinan and Dagupan City for the purpose.

He also sought the establishment of the Baywalk Management Commission that will manage the development of areas along the shoreline in Lingayen, Binmaley and possibly including San Fabian.

On the boundary dispute, Guico reiterated his earlier position that he will not allow even a square inch of land to be taken away from Pangasinan by other provinces, citing the province’s boundary disputes with Nueva Ecija and Benguet. (Leonardo Micua)
