THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) Pangasinan Provincial Office deactivated more than 30 thousand regular voters in the province, based on their latest election registration board hearing.

Atty. Marino Salas, provincial election supervisor, said the deactivated individuals were those who have died, relocated, or were unable to vote twice.

Those who relocated or were unable to vote, however, may be reactivated.

He added that individuals may go to their respective Comelec offices in their home cities or municipalities to verify their registration status.

Despite deactivating more than 30,000 voters, Salas said that more than 60,000 new voters between ages 15 to 17 years old have been recorded, based on the latest registration this July.

Out of the 2.1 million registered voters in the province, Dagupan City, San Carlos City, Malasiqui, and Bayambang recorded the highest number of voters.

The Comelec continues to prepare the voters’ list, and clustering of individuals into their respective voting precincts, as the ERB hearing draws its conclusion. Voters have also been classified as regular voters, and the voters for the Sangguniang Kabataan Elections. (Ahikam Pasion)
