Police nabs marijuana dealers

LINGAYEN–The provincial police have arrested 12 suspected marijuana dealers in different parts of the province after it intensified its campaign to rid the province of illegal drugs.

Senior Superintendent Isagani Nerez, provincial police director, said the arrests indicate that their successful efforts against shabu have prompted the drug dealers to shift to the distribution of dried marijuana leaves.

The marijuana supply has been entering through the tri-boundaries of Pangasinan as there is no known marijuana plantation in the province.

Arrested on July 31 were Esteve Clemente, Jovencio Cerdeniola both in the police drug watchlist, Bong Hidalgo, all from Tayug town, Juan Villasenior, Jaymart Porbile, Reggie Garcia, Renard Siapno and Raymund Calulot of Dagupan City, Melchor Esteves and Susan Manglinong of Urdaneta City, and Jun-jun Terreno.

Last July 19, about 1.8 kilos of marijuana brocks were also confiscated from Ryan Prangan of Pozorrubio town.

The police also seized P45,480 cash in different denominations which is believed to be drug money. Also seized was one caliber revolver.

He identified the cities of   Dagupan and Urdaneta as the main distribution areas but   added that efforts of   the police to eradicate the problem are being doubled in the wake of Governor Amado Espino Jr.’s recent order to make Pangasinan drug-free.
