ROSALES—President Gloria Arroyo and House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr. inaugurated Wednesday a new provincial transport terminal located in Barangay Carmen here.

The terminal, built and financed by a private investor, was designed to decongest traffic in the commercial area and provide livelihood opportunities to the people.

The Carmen area is a crossroad area linking Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Ilocos, Baguio and the Cagayan Valley.

The investor, Hausland Development Corporation, entered into a joint venture agreement with the Rosales local government and the profit sharing scheme is pegged at 70-30.

The President and her entourage, which included Transportation and Communication Secretary Leandro Mendoza and Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap, also had a brief dialogue with transport group leaders and farmers to discuss their concerns.

Mrs. Arroyo also met with some local officials including Governor Amado Espino Jr, Sixth District Rep. Conrado Estrella III, Mayor Ricardo Revita of this town, Binalonan Mayor Ramon Guico Jr., among others at the Rosales airstrip.
