Free HPV vax for 9-10 years old kids at R1MC
THE Region 1 Medical Center is offering free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines for children between the age of nine and ten this month of July.
The hospital urges parents to take advantage of the free jabs every Wednesday from 8 a.m. -3 p.m. at the Pediatric Out-Patient Clinic, located at the second floor of the Training and Eye Center Building.
While the HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection, it is still considered a skin-to-skin infection, therefore, sexual intercourse is not required for transmission to occur.
The virus is usually harmless but some types could lead to cervical cancer.
HPV vaccination for kids could prevent the development of cancer cells.
Early jab may also give children protection even before they may potentially get transmitted. (Ahikam Pasion)
