YMCA-Dagupan City bags 5 golds
IN MANILA INVITATIONAL KARATE TILT
TEAM YMCA-Dagupan City recently bagged 5 golds, 3 silvers, and 7 bronzes in the KDA Manila Invitational Karate Championships held July 29, 2007 at Tiendesitas, Pasig City.
Jimko Alcantara of Precious Minds school won gold in the 6 to 7 Boys Kumite, Richard Manantan of Wonderland won Gold in the 8 to 9 Boys Kumite, Dan Kurt Vidal of Ednas School won gold in the 12 to 14 Kata, Gerard Martin Tamayo of Special Science Lyceum won Gold in the 12 to 13 Boys Kumite and Silver in Kata, and Michelle Colado of Ednas School won Gold in the 15 to 17 Kata.
Trained by the International Federation ofá Wado, RYU, the other winners are Jayson Ramil Macaalay of Lyceum Northwestern Special Science, silver,15 to 17 advance Kata; David Rosario of La Salette, silver, 9 to 11 Kata; John Enrico Vasquez of Mother Goose, bronze, 6 to 8 Boys Kata; Celina Koleen Juguilon of Lyceum Northwestern Creative Montessori, bronze, 6 to 7 girls Kumite; Joan Meverick Edralin of Creative Montessori, bronze, 12 to 14 boys Kata; Fernandine De Asis of St. Albert, bronze,12 to 14 girls Kata; Jona Reyes, a Masscom student of SaintLouis, bronze, 16 to 17 advance Kata; Kim Rivera of Daniel Maramba School, bronze, 15 to 17 Novice Kata.
Dr. Enrico Vasquez, YMCA Chief instructor said that this is the start of their team preparations for the National Philippine Olympic Festival, PKF National open and the WorldWado Ryu Karatedo championships in Bodukan Tokyo 2008 August.
The KDA Manila Championships is part of the Phil. Karatedo Federation Development Program aimed at further developing and honing the skills of young Karate practitioners.
