16 routes with “Libreng Sakay” in Pangasinan

SIXTEEN routes in Pangasinan were recently chosen by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Region 1 to be serviced by both Modernized Public Utility Vehicles (MPUV) and Traditional Public Utility Jeeps (TPUJ) offering free rides or “Libreng Sakay” to passengers, particularly health care workers.

All “Libreng Sakay” routes are being serviced by MPUVs and TPUJs owned by cooperatives that joined the Service Contracting Program (SCP) Phase 3 of LTFRB under the nationwide Public Transport Modernization Program.

The public transports service the routes are identified with signage that reads “Libreng Sakay” and cater to all kinds of passengers are: Bayambang-SM Carmen (Rosales), Dagupan City-Bayambang via Malasiqui, Dagupan City-Bonuan Boquig, Dagupan City-Lingayen, Dagupan City-San Carlos City, Tayug-Urdaneta via Asingan, Pozorrubio-Urdaneta, and Dagupan City-Urbiztondo via San Carlos City.

Meanwhile, eight other routes with MPUVs and TPUJs offering free rides only to health care workers are: Dagupan City-Sta. Barbara, Dagupan City-Bonuan Gueset/Tondaligan, Dagupan City-Bonuan /Salisay, Dagupan City-San Fabian, Dagupan City-Inmalog, San Fabian, Dagupan City-Manaoag, Dagupan City-Bonuan Binloc and Dagupan City-Villa Sta.. Barbara via town proper.

Passengers riding in MPUVs and TPUJs covered by LTFRB’s SCP need to enter their names and other data in the logbook as basis of the cooperatives to collect fares due them from LTFRB. (Leonardo Micua)
