Dagupan businessman shot dead in Calasiao
A businessman, a sabong aficionado, was shot dead in Barangay San Miguel in Calasiao town on Sunday evening, May 29.
Investigation revealed the victim Leopoldo Ragutana Jr., known as “Dondon” and a companion were leaving the cockpit compound when he was approached by two still unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle and shot Ragutana.
Ragutana, who sustained three gunshot wounds causing his instantaneous death, was reportedly planning to run as Barangay chairman of Pugaro in the upcoming Barangay and SK elections by his companions.
Eyewitnesses claimed the assailants took some of Ragutana’s belongings before escaping.
Authorities recovered five spent shells from a caliber 45 pistol at the crime scene.
Police are currently investigating the identity of the assailants and the motive behind Ragutana’s killing. (Ahikam Pasion)
