PIA Pangasinan holds fact-checking webinar
THE Philippine Information Agency (PIA)-Pangasinan Information Center held a virtual forum: “Fact-Checking: Dealing with Propaganda, Misinformation, and Fake News” last Thursday May 26 via Zoom.
Members of the Pangasinan Government Information Officers’ Association, Inc. (PaGIOA) and student journalists in Dagupan City participated in the forum that sought to enhance the capability of participants to determine what is true in an online landscape replete with disinformation for them to help in combating false information which abound cyberspace, i.e., how to conduct an interview to get facts straight from credible sources to verify and evaluate their sources before a piece of information is shared online.
“With disinformation for both COVID-19 and the recently concluded elections still thriving, the need for everyone to become media literate has become more urgent. Being online-savvy and being able to detect false information has now become a social responsibility for Filipinos,” the PIA said. (PIA Pangasinan/AMMB)
