Mayor Lim concedes, congratulates Belen
INCUMBENT Dagupan City Mayor Marc Brian Lim accepted his defeat in the May 9 local elections when he posted his message in the Public Information Office wall the following day congratulating former Mayor Belen Fernandez in her successful bid to be the next city mayor to succeed him.
“Our people have spoken, to which I owe the highest regard. I congratulate Mayor-elect Belen Fernandez, and the newly elected officials of the Sangguniang Panlungsod. I wish them all the best during their term, as I similarly wish that they continue all the programs and projects that we have started.”
Lim and his running mate Carlos Alipio Fernandez were defeated by former Mayor Fernandez and re-electionist Vice Mayor Bryan Kua.
In 2019, Fernandez lost to Lim by a narrow margin of 1,234 votes. However, in that election, her running mate Kua prevailed over his opponent.
In his four-paragraph message to the winners of this election in Dagupan, Lim said that the services he had rendered the past years “reflect how much he cares for Dagupenos, how he looks after the welfare of those on the lowest spoke of fortune’s wheel, and how bright our outlook is for our City.”
He expressed his gratitude to the city government employees, likewise to his benefactors, supporters and volunteers who “worked hard and sacrificed with us even in the most trying times, to ensure that our vision is brought into fruition.”
Lastly, Lim said: “It is an honor serving the Dagupenos. More than ever, whether in public or private capacity, the clarion call remains — Our City is our shared responsibility.”
Also proclaimed in other parts of Pangasinan were former Alaminos City Mayor Arthur Celeste who beat former Pangasinan Governor Oscar Orbos in the First District congressional race; Binalonan Mayor Ramon Guico Jr., beat Clemente Arboleda Jr. in the Fifth District congressional race, while Mark Cojuangco who upset Congressman Jumel Espino in the Second District congressional race.
