Comelec Pangasinan all set for May 9 polls
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Pangasinan will test and seal vote-counting machines (VCMs) on May 6 and readies personnel and security plans for the May 9 elections.
Last Wednesday, provincial election supervisor Ericson Oganiza confirmed that the VCMs have arrived in the province and are stored in a secured place while awaiting the arrival of the contingency machines.
There are 3,339 VCMs secured for Pangasinan.
“There will be simultaneous nationwide final testing and sealing on May 6 in the Ilocos Region,” he said.
Oganiza said all three electoral boards, composed of teachers, are complete and a list of substitutes is ready to fill up any unforeseen absence on May 9, including support staff, technicians, and coordinating officers.
Oganiza said aside from the honoraria, transportation allowance, and communication allowance, among others, a coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) kit will be given to the teachers who will serve in the elections.
He reminded the public that the voting schedule will be from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Jerick Pasiliao)
