Still no early passage of 2022 annual Dagupan budget seen
WITH the local campaign heating up, any slim chance to approve the 2022 annual city budget of Dagupan went to naught with the failure of the Sangguniang Panlungsod to muster a quorum in their regular and special sessions.
In last special session of the SP on Wednesday, April 20, only five members showed up: Vice Mayor and presiding officer Bryan Kua and Councilors Michael Fernandez, Jose Netu Tamayo, Celia Lim, and Dennis Canto.
Councilors Karlos Reyna, Luis Samson Jr., Marvin Fabia, Teresa Coquia, Librada Reyna-Macalanda, Cisco Flores, Marcelino Fernandez and Joshua Bugayong failed to respond to the roll call at 1:00 p.m.
Councilor Fernandez, the SP majority floor leader, moved for the adjournment of the session at 1:30 p.m., noting that council members were likely busy in their campaign sorties.
After his motion was seconded by Canto, the last councilor to show up for the zoom session, Vice Mayor Kua adjourned the session.
City Secretary Ryan Ravanzo said calendared for discussion in the Wednesday special session was the continuation of the discussion on the proposed annual city budget of P1.38 billion that was delayed due to the late submission of all the documentary requirements supporting the same (budget) by the office of the city executive.
