Three drown in Binmaley, three in San Fabian, two in Lingayen

BEACH DROWNING

EIGHT persons drowned in separate drowning incidents in three beaches since Easter Sunday.

John Lester Ilac, 21, a resident of Barangay Santo Domingo, Tarlac City drowned at a beach in Barangay Nibaliw Narvarte, San Fabian. He was brought to the Region 1 Medical Center in Dagupan City but was declared dead on arrival.

On April19, Barangay Kagawad Reynaldo Garbo and Robaldo Garbo, and residents of Barangay Sta. Ines, Manaoag drowned also at a beach in Barangay Nibaliw Vidal, in San Fabian.

The two were reportedly under the influence of liquor and went swimming and were hit by a strong wave that dragged them into a deep portion of the beach and drowned.

Meanwhile, Bobby Gomapos, 10, a resident of Zamora St, Barangay Pogo Chico, Dagupan City, was with three other kids when they went to Binmaley Beach but drowned.

In another drowning incident also in the same beach on the same day in Barangay Baybay Lopez, Binmaley town, Jennifer Macaraeg, 29 and a resident of Barangay Taloyan, Malasiqui this province was with a female companion swimming but she was carried away by strong current.

At the Lingayen Beach in Barangay Libsong West last Monday, April 18, Kathleen Malicdem, 14, and Jamvy Meneses, 12, both residents in the area, drowned when they went swimming with their families.

The two were with another companion, Mark Lawrence Santiago, 13, when they were pushed out by strong under-current of big waves.

Elements of police and Lingayen Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office recovered the victims and were rushed to Lingayen District Hospital but Malicdem and Meneses were declared dead on arrival. Their companion survived. (Eva Visperas)
