THE E-Agro Ecosystems: Farmers’ Total Assistance Portal (E-Agro), the first farmers’ total assistance portal in the Philippines, was launched in Bayambang on April 18.
It is the widest and biggest farmers’ portal or computer application program (app) that will help modernize and propel growth of agriculture sector in the town.
It boasts of its agricultural map from the geographical information system (GIS) that features different kinds of agricultural land in Bayambang with information about which crops are best planted at a specific period in a year.
E-Agro also helps to ensure sufficient equipment in order to have best quality products by providing financial assistance to buy farm inputs up to harvest, trading of products at higher and right market price, crop insurance during calamities, among others.
Meanwhile, the construction of eight district warehouses where farmers can store their products from different barangays are ongoing and can have access to the portal as well.
Farmers who registered at the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture of the Department of Agriculture prior to the application of their loan, will be issued their ATM cards where their loans will be channeled.
Mayor Cezar Quimbao said he will always try to give the farmers the best opportunities because farmers are closest to his heart and Bayambang is an agricultural town known as the onion capital and corn belt of the province.
His Bayambang Poverty Reduction Plan includes agricultural modernization thrust that will provide farmers with proper information and good opportunities.
He said the farmers can improve the their living standards and the economy of the town and the country if their perspectives are open to modern technology.
