‘Libring Sakay’ in six major routes started
THERE are eight transport groups plying different routes offering “Libreng Sakay” (free ride) to commuters under the Service Contracting Program (Phase 3) implemented starting April 13 by the regional office of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
The authorized transport groups using modern jeepneys and mini-buses acquired through the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP), will continue to offer free rides to commuters until further notice from LTFRB.
The new Service Contracting Program launched by LTFRB in Region is provided for under the General Appropriations Act of 2022.
LTFRB announced that there are 12 transport groups participating in the third phase of the Service Contracting Program in Region 1 and the eight in Pangasinan are: New Bayambang Express Transport Corporation, Tayug Pangasinan Transport Cooperative, Extreme Dagupan, Lingayen Transport Cooperative, Pangasinan Group Transport Cooperative, Dagupan City Bonuan Loop Transport Cooperative, Safeway UV Express Transport Inc. and BAMACA Transport Cooperative.
They are servicing the following routes: Bayambang-SM Carmen (Rosales), Dagupan City-Bayambang via Malasiqui, Dagupan City-Bonuan Boquig, Dagupan City-San Carlos City, Tayug-Urdaneta via Asingan and Pozorrubio-Urdaneta.
LTFRB said the Service Contracting Program seeks to help transport operators, drivers and commuters continuously affected by the pandemic and the soaring prices of commodities. (Leonardo Micua)
