Ilocos’ 685K residents get COVID-19 booster shots
THERE were finally 685,557 individuals in the Ilocos Region that received their COVID-19 booster shots as of April 9.
The Department of Health Center for Health Development Ilocos Region (DOH-CHD-1) posted on Monday that 3.5 million in the region are fully vaccinated residents or 80 percent of its 4.3 million target population; and, 501,418 or 87 percent of the region’s senior citizens are fully inoculated.
The region’s daily average of COVID-19 positivity rate has dropped to four cases.
COVID-19 focal person Dr. Rheuel Bobis earlier attributed the decline to the high immunization coverage.
The non-intensive care unit (ICU) bed utilization was at 11 percent or only 170 being used out of the 1,532 beds while the ICU bed utilization rate is at 18 percent or 42 out of 236 ICU beds.
DOH-CHD-1 added that only 39 patients are considered severe and critical or 18 percent of the total admissions. (Jerick Pasiliao)
