Farmers benefit from new farm-to-market road in Bugallon
THE newly completed farm-to-market road in Barangay Cabayaoasan in Bugallon town eases the delivery of the farm produce to outlets, the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) said on Monday.
DPWH Ilocos regional public information officer Esperanza Tinaza said travel time from the barangay to the town’s business centers has been reduced from 40 to 20 minutes, making the harvest delivery easier and cheaper.
“The new road also provides a wider and safer route for farmers when attending to their crops and delivering farm equipment to their farmlands. They will no longer worry about their safety during rainy days when the old unpaved road was muddy and slippery,” she said.
“Connectivity and mobility of people from far-flung areas have greatly improved, making the project beneficial to the entire community,” Tinaza added.
The PHP12-million concreting of the 2.1 kilometers farm-to-mark road was implemented by the DPWH Pangasinan Second District Engineering Office and by the Department of Agriculture. (Jerick Pasiliao)
