Two teens drown in outing with friends
TWO teenagers drowned while in outing with friends at the Lingayen Beach in Barangay Estanza.
P/Capt. Dexter Tayaba, investigation and intel division of Lingayen PNP, said the victims, Angel Mae Resolme and Aiza Castro, both 13-year old, and residents of Barangay Magtaking in Bugallon town, were reportedly washed away by huge waves.
Investigation showed both sneaked out of their homes to meet with friends for a beach affair on Monday, April 4.
“Hindi po sila nagpaalam sa mga pamilya nila, tumakas po”, said Tayaba.
It was around 2 p.m. when the families of victims received a call from authorities saying that the victims have gone missing after they were washed away. A water search and rescue operation immediately followed but failed to recover the two.
It was only at around 7 a.m. the following day when the lifeless bodies of the teens were found in Barangay Laois, in adjacent Labrador town.
A relative confirmed that the ladies tried to get permission, but were denied, hence sneaking up with the friends.
They were supposed to graduate this year.
Authorities continue to warn the public and to take considerable care when going to the beach, and minors must be accompanied by guardians.
Tayaba also urged individuals to refrain from swimming if waves are big. (Ahikam Pasion)
