Bayambang declared ASF-free

BAYAMBANG Mayor Cezar Quiambao issued an executive order declaring the town as African Swine Fever (ASF)-Free municipality.

Quiambao issued Executive Order No. 19, series of 2022, dated March 25 after the Department of Agriculture Regional Office 1 issued a certification raising the ASF status of Bayambang from red zone to pink zone.

According to the Municipal Agriculture Office, the pink zone status means the town’s hogs are no longer at risk with ASF infection having complied with all the requirements for its declaration as ASF-free zone.

It also means that hogs from the town will no longer be required to be quarantined, it added.

It may be recalled that this town was declared under state of calamity in October 2019 after an ASF outbreak inflicted heavy losses on the town’s hog raisers. (Eva Visperas)
