Pangasinan, Dagupan hailed for high vaxx rates

PANGASINAN and Dagupan City are the among the highest vaccinated provinces and cities,  respectively, in the country today.

This was bared by Secretary Vince Dizon, presidential adviser on COVID-19 response, who led the “Bida sa New Normal Road Show” at Monarch Hotel on March 10.

Dizon told newsmen that it was because of the province’s and Dagupan’s high vaccination rates and their efficient COVID-19 responses that Region 1 is under Alert Level 1.

He said Region 1 is one of the regions in the country with no area whatsoever that is not under Alert Level 1, saying that the reason for this was because of its efficient COVID-19 responses.

He added that the CODE team came to Dagupan and Pangasinan to see the remarkable achievements of the two in COVID-19 response and in vaccination which can be duplicated in other provinces and cities in the country.

Dizon noted that based on the report of Mayor Brian Lim, Dagupan had already vaccinated 140 percent of its target since the city also vaccinated even non-residents.

At the same time, Dizon told newsmen that the new three-day Vaccination Day from March 10 to 12 targeted to vaccinate 1.8 million people, the priority of whom were the senior citizens who, he said, are the most vulnerable sector to be infected by COVID-19.

He was glad to note that vaccination of senior citizens in Dagupan City has reached 90 percent while other areas have reached only 50 percent.

“If we want to open our economy and to place all areas in the Philippines under Alert Level 1, we should vaccinate all our senior citizens as they are most susceptible people to be infected by COVID-19,” Dizon said.

He revealed that not many Pfizer 5-11 vaccines have arrived yet because of its short supply all over the world but once these arrive, he assured that Pangasinan and Dagupan will have first priority because of their track records in vaccination. (Butch Uka)
