SOME P1.6 million worth of grocery items were recently distributed by the provincial government in exchange for 80 tons of plastic waste under its continuing “Kalinisan Karaban” program.

Heaps of plastic waste were collected in the towns of Bautista last March 4, Basista (March 1-2), Asingan (Feb. 11), and Tayug (Feb. 8).

The Kalinisan Karaban launched in Jan. 6, 2019, is an innovative environmental protection program that encourages Pangasinenses to collect and convert plastic waste into valuable items under a “plastic for goods” exchange program.

The Kalinisan Karaban encourages Pangasinenses to collect plastic waste materials such shampoo sachets, plastic bottles and caps, sando bags, plastic cups, spoon and fork, candy wrappers, and other plastic scraps to be exchanged for goods like grocery items, school supplies, and other items.
