THE Department of Science and Technology – Regional Office 1(DOST-1) through its Provincial Science and Technology Center (PSTC) in Pangasinan awarded P180, 000 financial assistance to Bani Delicious Ice Cream, Sustainable Livelihood Program Association (SLPA) in Bayambang.

The financial assistance was used to purchase an ice cream maker machine to boost the local livelihood of the association and to improve their production process and product quality through science and technology.

The Bani Delicious Ice Cream, SLPA is an association of ice cream makers from Barangay Bani, Bayambang composed of 17 residents, officially organized on April 2018.

Despite the pandemic, they continuously produce delicious ice cream and proved that ice cream making is viable in the long run, as the group continued to capitalize on Filipinos’ weakness for sweet cold treats, especially in the summer months.

With the ice cream maker machine, they are able to reduce production time from 180 minutes to 20 minutes, eliminating the manual mixing of the ingredients and produce a smoother, softer, and finer ice cream texture.

They also introduced two new additional ice cream flavors, malunggay and carrot, and established four additional markets.  (Eva Visperas)
