DAGUPENOS brushed aside the much-vaunted Solid North as they trooped to the Stadia in Dagupan City Friday to show support to presidential bet and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and his team.

Moreno barnstormed Pangasinan and wowed an almost 6,000 local residents gathered to listen to him and his team, composed of his vice presidential tandem Dr. Willie Ong and senatorial bets Jopet Sison, Samira Gutoc and Carl Balita.

“Yes of course,” said Rowena Marquez, 44, from Barangay Pantal here when asked if she is supporting Moreno’s presidential bid.

She said she can relate pretty well with Moreno’s life story as she and her husband used to work as garbage collectors in their area.

She said she does not believe in Solid North as claimed by national candidates if they come from this area. “It’s up to the voters to choose whom they think can best serve them,” she said.

Teresita dela Cruz, 70, also from Pantal, said even if Moreno didn’t dance his signature “Dying Inside” groove, she would still root for him.

Although Moreno is still young, Dela Cruz said she believes he can make a difference as he had already shown it in Manila where he is currently the mayor.

She said she used to live in Blumentritt and saw its transformation from being filthy to being orderly, thanks to Mayor Isko.

Also, she cited the clean-up of Manila Bay.

Moreno’s team was warmly welcomed by their mayoralty candidate in Dagupan. Belen Fernandez and her team and Abono partylist through businessman Rosendo So who accompanied Moreno’s team in their campaign sorties in different areas in Pangasinan yesterday.

Moreno thanked Northern Luzon people like in La Union where they had their campaign sortie on Thursday and Pangasinan for their warm welcome to them. (Eva Visperas)
