Decorp warns of higher electricity billings

THE Dagupan Electric Corporation (Decorp) advised its customers to brace for higher electricity costs in months ahead.

Atty. Randy Castilan, Decorp spokesperson, cited the rising prices of fuel as one of the main reasons for the increase.

He said P10.20 has been added to diesel price alone, over a seven week period.

Castilan pointed out that the increase in diesel costs is being charged by power suppliers to distributors, Decorp included.

Economic experts and technical analysts say oil price will continuously rise, as demand outstrips supply.

Castilan advised Decorp customers to manage their consumption to cushion the increase in their billing statements.

Meanwhile, the electric companies in Central Pangasinan received an advisory on possible energy supply shortage from April to June this year.

Worse, some power plants have scheduled to conduct maintenance on the expected dates of shortage.

Castilan hopes that Decorp’s solar power plant located in Barangay Erfe, Sta. Barbara town would already be completed during that period.

Decorp has finished installing and erecting the posts leading to and away from the solar plant and Castilan hopes Decorp’s partner will complete the installation of the solar panels as scheduled. (Ahikam Pasion)
