DAGUPAN City has reportedly achieved its herd immunity against COVID-19 on Tuesday, January 25, local health authorities said.

The City Health Office released its data, through the Dagupan City Public Information Office (PIO), showed that as of Tuesday, January 25, 129,586 individuals in Dagupan City, or 101.75 percent of the target 127,351 eligible population had been fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, 147,406 individuals, or 115.75 percent of the target eligible population received their first Covid jab.

As of 2021, the city has a total population of 181,932 individuals.

The Department of Health says at least 70% of the eligible population should be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity.

As of January 25 monitoring, the city logged 603 active COVID-19 cases.

Majority of these, however, were only experiencing mild to no symptoms.

On Wednesday, Cabinet Secretary and acting presidential spokesperson Karlo Nograles named Dagupan City as one of 22 areas the MalacaƱang is monitoring as the areas showed higher growth rates of infection.

However, with Dagupan City reaching its herd immunity, its alert level may be lowered any time soon.

Meanwhile, authorities continued to urge the public to follow health protocols. (Ahikam Pasion)
