Alert Level 3 declared in Pangasinan
FROM JANUARY 12-31
PANGASINAN was placed on Alert Level 3 from January 14 to 31, along with two other provinces in Region 1, La Union and Ilocos Norte, due to their soaring COVID-19 cases.
This was contained in Resolution No. 156-C, series of 2022 issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) on January 12, 2022.
Alert Level 3 was declared earlier in Dagupan, an independent component city of Pangasinan, from January 9 to 15; It was not known at presstime if the city will retain that classification until January 31 like Pangasinan.
Records of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed that as of January 11, 2022, Pangasinan logged 782 active COVID-19 cases while Dagupan City had 247. Number of active cases in both areas were still counting at presstime.
Health authorities admitted that COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan and Dagupan – like in many urban and populated areas in the entire country—suddenly experienced a higher surge after the Christmas season compared to 2021 surge, indicating a much faster rate of transmission.
The PHO reported that said a significant number of those found positive for COVID-19 were with mild and symptomatic cases that needed no hospitalization but only isolation in their homes. (Leonardo Micua)
