No shortage of paracetamol in Pangasinan
HEALTH authorities have dispelled claims of shortage of supply of paracetamol in the country, particularly in Pangasinan.
Dr. Rheuel Bobis, COVID-19 focal person of the Department of Health – Center for Health Development Region 1 (DOH-CHD), said the public should not be alarmed as there is an ample supply of paracetamol in the province.
While Bobis admitted that a certain brand of Paracetamol ran out of supply recently in Metro Manila but it did not affect the overall supply of Paracetamol in the region.
He cited a statement issued by United Laboratories Inc. (UNILAB) on Tuesday, January 4, on one of its paracetamol brands reportedly running out of supply due to sudden high demand.
Bobis urged the public to patronize other brands, even generic, because these are equally effective.
He also urged the public to stop panic buying, as it will not help the current situation.
“Bumili lang dapat ng kailangan, para hindi maubusan yung mga tunay na may kailangan”, he added.
Bobis suspected that people were in panic mode buying paracetamol because many individuals were experiencing flu-like symptoms this month, January being traditionally a flu season and feared that the symptom is linked to COVID-19.
