Public warned of strict enforcement of firecrackers ban
POLICE Regional Office 1 will strictly enforce the firecracker ban during the celebration of the Christmas holiday and New Year revelry.
P/Brig. General Emmanuel Peralta, PRO 1 regional director, said R.A. No. 7183 that regulates the manufacture and distribution of firecrackers will be strictly enforced on orders of Chief PNP General Dionardo Carlos.
Peralta said the PNP was named in Memorandum Order No. 31 issued by the Office of the President as the agency primarily responsible in the administration and enforcement of RA 7183.
“We will support the Local Government Units in organizing their respective community fireworks displays through the deployment of our personnel in order to enforce public health protocols and minimize fire related incidents,” Peralta said.
He encouraged the public to use safe/alternative and indigenous homemade materials to welcome the New Year revelry instead of lighting firecrackers and other highly dangerous pyrotechnics.
Peralta directed the chiefs of police to coordinate with LGUs and the Bureau of Fire Protection for the regular inspection of manufacturers production sites and retailers’ display of firecrackers to prevent the sale of illegal firecrackers. (Leonardo Micua)
