THE Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office 1 is finally considering limited in-person classes for all academic programs based on parameters yet to be set by it.

Rogelio Galera Jr., CHED regional director, said all higher education institutes (HEIs) may apply for permission to conduct face-to-face classes at 50% capacity, with the assurance that they will comply with requirements and guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).

Meanwhile, among initial the conditions prescribed by CHED chairman Prospero de Vera to qualify for the program are:

  1. HEIs may take part in in the in-person program if the school is located in areas under Alert Level 2 or 1.
  2. Students, teaching, and non-teaching personnel included in program must be fully vaccinated.
  3. School facilities are retrofitted to ensure public health and safety standards are implemented at all times.
  4. The local government units where schools are located should give their consent or approval to conduct in-person classes.

As of writing, around 62% or around 138,000 tertiary students and some 89% or 12,000 teaching and non-teaching personnel have completed their COVID-19 jabs. (Ahikam Pasion)
