MANAOAG, known for the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, has another attraction to offer with the recent opening of a private farm with various attractions.
The Kabalikat People’s Farm, located in Barangay Baritao, which is just near the Poblacion area, is already open to the public for free.
The farm which sits on a five-hectare land has attractions to offer, among these free ride on horse-drawn carts or karetela, free All-Terrain Vehicles(ATVs) rides, and visitors can also watch and experience presence of albino snakes, ostriches, monkeys, horses and farm life in the countryside with chickens, geese, ducks and pigeons.
The farm also has cottages and picnic areas for the visitors.
According to its owner, Provincial Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario, the farm is open to the public from Mondays to Saturdays but closed on Sundays.
The land was an inheritance from his grandfather, he said.
Rosario said the place is for the town’s residents and their visitors to enjoy while observing
the minimum health protocol particularly to wear facemasks and to keep the place clean through proper waste disposal.
He said the concept of developing a family-oriented farm and having a bike trail in the area came to mind at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic because he was inspired to seeing a lot of people turning to riding bicycles at the start of the pandemic.
He said the bicycle riders needed an area for leisure without risking accidents on the roads and highways.
Rosario said he is very happy seeing hundreds of visitors, especially the young people happy. ‘That is priceless and heart-warming,” he said.
He said some friends have been helping to further develop the farm and cited the ATVs and some of the horse carts that were provided by his friends.
The farm also provides livelihood opportunities to residents by selling food and souvenirs in the area. (Cesar Ramirez)
