Police rescue 16 women, including minors, from prostitution
SIXTEEN victims of prostitution were rescued in San Carlos City by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) over the weekend, November 27 in an Oplan Sagip Anghel operation
Police said one of the victims personally appeared to the CIDG-Pangasinan together with 15 others, including minors to report the prostitution activity at the city’s Karen’s Bar in Brgy. Burgos-Padlan.
The rescue operation, conducted by joint operatives of the CIDG, San Carlos City Police Station coordinated with the City Social Welfare and Development, arrested suspects Joevelina Peralta Rafon, 32, and native of Zone 1, Capili Compound, Brgy. Graceville, San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan; and Melvin Nepomuceno Delleuro, 37, native of Morales, Balete, Aklan.
Meanwhile, a certain Karen Peralta, resident of Brgy. Rizal Avenue is still at-large.
Pangasinan Police Provincial Office director Col. Richmond Tadina said the operation is a another milestone in the police’s fight against criminality. “We are sending a strong message that we are determined to put an end to this grievous exploitation of women and children.”
A case for violation of Republic Act 9208 as amended by RA 10364 Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Person Act of 2012 was filed against the suspects. (Jerick Pasiliao)
