BEATING the last-minute deadline for substitution for local elective posts, Mayor Lim’s sister, Irene Lim-Acosta, withdrew her certificate of candidacy (COC) for the ice mayoralty  but will seek a seat at the Sangguniang Panlungsod and substituted one of the candidates of the Nacionalista Party for councilor.

Irene who filed her COC on Oct. 8 was substituted by former Dagupan City Sports Commissioner Atty. Carlos Alipio Serafin, bringing back the “LiFe” team of 2019.

In 2019, Lim ran with Carlos’s father, Alfie Fernandez, but he lost to former Mayor Belen Fernandez’s running mate Bryan Kua.

Lim-Acosta was substituted by Carlos Alipio Fernandez, son of former Councilor Allie Fernandez who is seeking to return to his old post.

It was previously reported by the NP camp that Joseph Lo of the Guanzon Group will substitute for Irene-Acosta but this did not happen.

With the mother of the Lim siblings, Celia Lim, also seeking reelection for her second term as city councilor, that makes three in the mayor’s family are seeking elective posts.

Four other candidates for councilor under the NP ticket also withdrew from the race. They were Jen Tan, Mario Lim, Perry Fernandez and Alex Siapno. They were substituted by Teddy Villamil, Jek Palaganas and Leo Cuaton. (Leonardo Micua/Jerick Pasiliao)
