THE average bed occupancy rate in the 14 provincial government-run hospitals of Pangasinan is down to 26%, making wards with COVID-dedicated beds spacious.

Dr. Anna de Guzman, provincial health officer, said out of 570 dedicated COVID-19 beds, only 148 beds are utilized since the province started recording only a daily average of 34 cases.

Patients in the hospitals’ Intensive Care Unit (ICU) were also reduced.

As of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) November 10, update, the province logged only 355 active COVID-19 cases.

De Guzman attributed the decline to the provincial government’s continued efforts, contact tracing, the newly-opened molecular laboratory and the high level of compliance with restrictions.

PHO reported that as of November 11, 1.3 million individuals in Pangasinan have been inoculated. (Ahikam Pasion)
