THE nation can expect more than 2.1-million registered voters to cast their votes for the May 2022 elections.

Provincial Election Supervisor Marino Salas said the July data from the Election Registration Board of the Commission on Elections shows Pangasinan already has 2, 052,000 registered voters.

He said still not included in the number are registrants in August to October.

Salas said the number is expected to reach more than 2.1-million on October 31.

Pangasinan is always one of the top five vote-rich provinces in the country which explains why candidates eyeing national positions during the campaign period  frequently make their presence felt in the province.

Meanwhile, Salas affirmed that  local candidates who filed their certificates of candidacy from Oct. 1 to 8 observed health protocols when they arrived at the Comelec offices.

He said candidates were aware that they were allowed to have a maximum of two companions this time unlike in previous filing of COCs when their supporters were allowed to enter Comelec offices. (Eva Visperas)
