ONE of two brothers, both dismissed members of the National Capital Police Regional Office (NCRPO), was arrested in a raid by joint elements of the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at their hideout in Barangay Duera, Bayambang.

The suspect, Jasper Joy Mabahug, 32, former policeman assigned to the NRCPO, was arrested when a team composed of the operatives from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, PDEA Region I and other operating units served a search warrant at their residence in the early morning of September 16 for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), and RA 10521 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act).

The suspect, and his brother Lester, who was not around when the search warrant was served, were dismissed in 2020 when they were caught red-handed transporting illegal drugs from NCR to Central Luzon while in their own police uniforms to evade inspection in IATF checkpoints.

But the IATF checkpoint did not exempt them from routine inspection and were found to be carrying illegal drugs intended for delivery in certain areas in Central Luzon.

Found by lawmen in Jasper’s house were 22 small and six big sachets of suspected shabu with estimated weights of 10 grams valued at P68,000, drug paraphernalia, one Caliber 9mm, magazine containing 9 bullets and a Caliber 9 mm. airsoft pistol. (Leonardo Micua)
