New curfew hours in Pangasinan: 8 p.m.- 4 a.m.
THE provincial government has imposed a new set of curfew hours, in a bid to curb the increasing infection of the COVID-19 in the province effective August 24.
In his Executive Order No. 0090-2021 issued last Monday, Governor Amado Espino III ordered the province-wide curfew from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. until revoked.
The new EO superseded EO No. 0081-2021that set the curfew from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., however, other provisions in the earlier E.O. are retained.
The new curfew was prompted by the Provincial Health Office’s (PHO) report that the province has been recording a daily average of over 100 cases of COVID-19 since Aug. 16.
On August 22 alone, the PHO reported 202 new COVID-19 infections in the province.
On August 23, Pangasinan including Dagupan City logged 317 new cases and increased the total cumulative number of infections to 17,101 although 15,115 have recovered; 454 have died. Currently, there are still 532 active cases.
Calasiao town logged 119 active cases while San Carlos City registered 94 active cases.
Espino said that authorized persons outside of residence (APOR) and emergency cases are exempted from the curfew hours.
Violators of the curfew will be meted with a penalty under applicable ordinance, he said adding that Dagupan City is directed to observe the curfew restrictions as well.
Meanwhile, the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) announced last week it will temporarily stop admitting non-COVID patients this week as COVID-19 cases continue to rise.
Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia, R1MC director, said the hospital was already close to reaching its 100% bed capacity over the weekend.
If the hospital exceeds its 120-bed capacity, Mejia said the R1MC will activate “Surge Response A” that will have to suspend operations of Out-Patient Department (OPD) to focus on COVID-19 response.
If this fails, Mejia said “Surge Response B” will be activated, meaning the hospital will have to convert more beds for COVID patients necessitating suspension of other services. (Jerick Pasiliao/Ahikam Pasion)
