Calasiao opts for granular lockdown only

THE Calasiao local government did not agree with the recommendation of the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to place the town under a two-week lockdown.
In an interview over Aksyon Radyo Pangasinan, Mayor Joseph Arman Bauzon said the municipal government will implement granular lockdown instead in areas with higher COVID-19 cases, instead of placing the entire town to stricter community quarantine restriction.
He said the LGU needs to balance the local economy and the health of their constituents.
“I apologize but I do not agree to put the whole municipality under lockdown because if we do that, the problem would be the welfare of our kababayans especially those who work for their families,” he said.
Bauzon said although the municipality is recording high COVID-19 cases, the infection is clustered.
“Most of the infections are among the family members who live in a certain compound and we are able to put them in lockdown within just their area,” he explained.
Bauzon said aside from the granular lockdown, law enforcers will also ensure that minimum health and safety protocols are being implemented to prevent the further spread of the virus. (Jerick Pasiliao)
