Villasis placed under GCQ due to rising COVID cases
THE mayor of Villasis issued an executive order last Tuesday, August 17 placing the entire municipality under General Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions due to rising COVID-19 cases.
Mayor Nonato Abrenica issued Executive Order No. 010-08-17-2021 and promulgated guidelines for its implementation as the order took effect midnight of August 17 up to midnight of August 31.
Part of the order said that the movement of all persons shall be limited to accessing essential goods and services, for work in the offices or industries permitted to operate.
Persons below 15 years old, those who are over 65 years of age and above, those with immunodeficiency, comorbidity or other health risks, and pregnant women are required to stay home at all times.
“In view of the foregoing, all non-essential activities like birthday, wedding, baptismal and other parties and celebrations shall be limited to immediate family members only. The same applies to funeral wakes and services,” it added.
The municipal-wide curfew is from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
A liquor ban is also in effect for the duration of the Executive Order.
All food establishments are allowed to operate provided no dine-in is observed and strictly on take-out sales only.
The operation of resorts, swimming pools, spa, facial and other cosmetic shops, massage parlors and the like are also suspended for two weeks.
Violators of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, Republic Act No. 11332 and the other ordinances on the wearing of facemasks and face shields and social distancing and additionally, subject the violating individual/s and/ or establishment/s to other will be penalized with 14-day facility-based quarantine.
As of the Aug. 17 monitoring report, the town logged 16 new COVID cases, bringing the number of total active cases to 71 with two new deaths. (Eva Visperas)
