THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Pangasinan declared 10 more barangays in the province as drug-cleared on Sunday, August 9.

Rechie Camacho, newly-installed PDEA Pangasinan provincial officer, said the 10 barangays are all located in Sual town: Baybay Norte, Bolaoen, Camagsingalan, Capantolan, Macaycayawan, Paitan West, Pangascasan, Sto Domingo, Seselangen, and Sioasio West.

Camacho said the said barangays were declared drug-cleared after a validation by the Regional Oversight Committee.

Factors considered in declaring a barangay as cleared of illegal drugs include absence of drug supply in the area, absence of drug transit activity, clandestine drug laboratory and chemical warehouse, marijuana cultivation site, drug den, drug pushers and users.

Camacho said the 10 barangays in Sual passed the criteria. Only four more barangays in Sual town have yet to be cleared.

PDEA Pangasinan reported 1,049 (83%) of 1,272 drug-affected barangays in the province have been cleared. (Ahikam Pasion)
