PHO logs more new confirmed COVID cases
PANGASINAN UPDATE
NEW confirmed cases reported in Pangasinan exceeded the number of recoveries over a one-week period from July 29 to August 5 by more than 100, records of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) show.
Records showed that there were 554 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 412 recoveries with just four deaths that were logged from July 29 to August 5 but the figures did not show any sign of surge because of fast transmitting variants.
Health officials maintained it is not an indication of the creeping effect of the highly transmittable Delta variant as this type of COVID-19 strain since there’s no confirmation that it has already entered the province.
It can be noted that the Beta variant was detected in Barangay Palua, Mangaldan on August 5 but Mangaldan as of that day only had 35 active cases.
The highest recorded new cases was 116 on August 3, the day when 68 patients were discharged from their hospital confinement and isolation in homes and LGU-managed facilities.
There were new 100 cases on July 30 compared to just 50 cases that recovered. There were also 69 new cases that were recorded on August 1 against only 26 that recovered.
The number of new confirmed cases on August 5 was 71, higher than the 60 that recovered that day.
Meanwhile, there were 88 that recovered against 74 new cases logged on August 2; 60 recoveries against 52 new cases on August 4, and the 62 new cases on July 31 were even with the 60 recoveries.
The top cities/municipalities in PHO’s watch list as of August 5 are San Carlos City, Lingayen, Mangaldan, Malasiqui, Binmaley, Urdaneta City, Calasiao, Bayambang, Bolinao, Villasis, Bugallon, Sta. Barbara, Basista and Umingan.
PHO’s watch list differs with critical risk areas tagged by the regional office of Department of Health. (Leonardo Micua)
