PANGASINAN and other local governments in Region 1 will soon issue Safety Seals of Certification (SSC) to public and private buildings, public places and tourism sites that passed the health and safety protocols promulgated by the Department of Health (DOH).

Speaking during the PIA’s Kapehan sa Ilocos last June 15, Agnes de Leon, assistant regional director of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), said the issuance of SSC is mandated in a recent circular of DILG Secretary Eduardo Año.

The SSC will assure the people that the places and buildings they are visiting or entering, i.e., provincial capitol, city and municipal hall buildings, wet markets, restaurants, malls, resorts, tourist spots are clinically secured.

Asked to implement the SSC are the provincial/city/municipal DILG, the local PNP and the Bureau of Fire Protection on the recommendation of inspections teams.

The early implementation of SSC is necessary in Modified General Community Quarantine as well as General Community Quarantine areas that are expected to see  more people moving out and around.

De Leon said Pangasinan already formed two inspection teams, Ilocos Norte has six teams and Ilocos Sur has five teams, that will inspect establishments and sites frequented by the people. (Leonardo Micua)
