Lim reaffirms endorsement for resumption of bus operations
DAGUPAN City Mayor Brian Lim has endorsed to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) the resumption of operations of bus companies in this city from their routes in Manila.
“Dagupan City is the first local government unit in Pangasinan that gave an endorsement to these big companies so they can travel to and from Manila,” read an advisory posted by the Public Information Office.
The reaffirmation of the endorsement came after separate meetings were made on June 1 with the representatives of Pangasinan Solid North Transit, Five Star Bus Company and Victory Liner Inc. held at the city hall.
The bus companies thanked the mayor even as they vowed to strictly implement health and safety protocols to avoid the spread of COVID-19 during such travels.
It will be recalled that Gov. Amado Espino III had requested the LTFRB in his Dec. 29, 2020 letter to Regional Director Nasrudin Talipasan to allow the resumption of inter-provincial transportation services to Pangasinan.
Nasrudin also assured provincial board members during the latter’s virtual session that that the resumption of inter-regional operations would take place before the Holy Week.
He said once the memorandum circular from the Central Office is released, reopening of transport services will start.
However, this did not push through because of the surge of COVID cases. (Eva Visperas)
