Pangasinan already sees higher recoveries weekly
NEW 400 CASES, 364 RECOVER
PANGASINAN may finally be on the threshold of stopping the COVID-19 contagion with the encouraging trend showing the wide gap between the number of new confirmed cases and the number of patients that recover continues to narrow down.
This is the common consensus of health experts who believe that the treatment protocol in all public and private hospitals is working well, with more patients recovering every week.
For the week period the ended on April 23, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) registered 400 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, while 364 that recovered. But 12 persons died from the disease.
Though the number of active cases in the province slightly rose to 625 on April 29, from 567 last April 22, experts consider this as an encouraging sign that COVID-19 can finally be licked.
However, while the number of new confirmed cases is not far from the number of patients being discharged from their hospital confinement and isolation, 26 of the 48 towns and cities of Pangasinan are still listed in the COVID-19 watchlist of the PHO.
Even in densely populated Dagupan City, statistics show COVID-19 appears to be on a downturn with 42 active cases still left from 73 a week ago.
San Carlos City now leads in the number of new cases at 61, followed by Urdaneta City (42), Bolinao (36), Lingayen (28), Malasiqui (26), Mangaldan (26), Calasiao (25), Villasis (21), Bayambang (20), San Nicolas (20), Sual (20), Alaminos City (20), San Quintin (16), Bugallon (15), Binmaley (14), Manaoag (14), Bani (13), Balungao (11), San Jacinto (11), San Manuel (11), Basista (10), Mangatarem (10), Sta. Maria (10), Tayug (10) and Umingan (10).
The COVID-free towns are Burgos, Dasol, Sto. Tomas and Infanta. (Leonardo Micua)
