De Venecia files bill converting Manaoaq to Pozorrubio roads into national road
FOURTH District Rep. Christopher “Toff” de Venecia happily informed Governor Amado Espino III that he actually already filed a bill at the House of Representatives for the conversion of the provincial road line from Barangay Pao, Manaoag to Poblacion,, Pozorrubio into a national highway.
In his April 16, 2021 letter to Gov. Espino, De Venecia said he filed H.B. No. 8378 entitled “an Act Converting the Provincial Road from the National Highway, Passing through Barangay Pao in the Municipality of Manaoag, Province of Pangasinan, Into a National Road and Appropriating Funds Therefor,” on January 14, 2021
According to De Venecia, his bill has been endorsed to the House Committee on Public Works and Highways and he assured the governor that he will “work doubly hard to ensure that the bill is approved by the House of Representatives soon.”
De Venecia said the recent resolution adopted by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) that endorsed the conversion of the Manaoag-Pozorrubio and San Jacinto-Pozorrubio road lines into national road lines,” is also timely.
“This is a clear indication that our offices are aligned on the development goals for our home province of Pangasinan,” De Venecia said.
“I believe that this measure (H,B. 8378) will be a key driver for the development of our province and will benefit our constituents especially as we cope with the difficult economic crisis owing to the pandemic,” De Venecia said.
In his letter to Gov. Espino, he further requested the inclusion of the provincial road line being sought to be converted into a national road in the Provincial Development Plan.
De Venecia emphasized that it is the job of Congress to appropriate the needed infrastructure funds for national government projects.
The conversion of the Pao, Manaoag to Poblacion, Pozorrubio provincial road into a national road will be a big boon to the province because it will be the national government that will spend for the maintenance of this road stretch. (Leonardo Micua)
