Binmaley gets new ambulance
BINMALEY–Townsfolk here have reason to look forward to an improved delivery of health service after a new ambulance arrived Wednesday, courtesy of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
The 5-seater air- conditioned L-300 ambulance is fully equipped with facilities like oxygen tank, stretcher, and sphygmomanometer.
Mayor Simplicio Rosario expressed the town’s gratitude to President Arroyo who, he said, finally acted on the request for an ambulance two years ago.
Rosario also credited Councilor Edgar Mamenta who used to work in the Health Department and followed up on the request.
The mayor said the other two ambulances of the town are already dilapidated and no longer responsive to emergency cases, especially if the patient has to be transported to Metro Manila.
He added that the town will soon adopt a policy providing free transport to verified indigent patients all the way to Metro Manila.
Two drivers are on standby on two 12-hour shifts, including Saturdays and Sundays.
Rosario said there are only four units of the fully equipped ambulance and Binmaley is lucky to have one.–EVA
